Over the years many of WHGC members have been involved in volunteer work at the Brockton Veterans Hospital. This aspect of our work is not an organized committee with a specific time table as our other projects, it is represented by who is available at the time of need.
We have done many projects with the men of the facility. One greenhouse project involved enormous Amaryllis Bulb Planting before the holidays for proper blooming time. The large bulbs were easy to work with and provide great enjoyment. Their rapid growth is always an amazement.
The women also are attended to as well. We not only do volunteer work involving garden therapy but also give monetary donations to purchase personal needs to be given as gifts at the proper time.
