Thirty five members work under the direction of Karen Pritchard who coordinates the WHGC plantings with the Hanover Garden Club. Both clubs have various involvement in the town traffic islands. Hanover Garden Club raises large amounts of money to fund the islands and WHGC adds a contribution to their total. Mostly, WHGC offers additional bodies to do the backbreaking work and endless watering throughout the season. Most citizens have no idea how much work and dedication goes into these plantings. The weeding alone is enough to send you running. But, we amend the soil after the harsh salt from the winter takes its toll, then we till the soil, plant, water and weed, weed, weed. Finally, we are able to enjoy the results. And, we do all this while dodging passing vehicles.
