This is where we'll announce the most recent additions to our web site. If you've visited us before and want to know what's changed, take a look here first.

The "Nutsey News", named for the Walnut Hill area of  Hanover where the club was founded, is published every month of our active year, running September through June. The full version is no longer mailed to every member. The web site version omits full addresses and/or telephone numbers. Refer to your e-mailed copy for full details, or your annual yearbook.

The WHGC "club flower" is the Dogwood. One of the most beautiful American flowering trees. The dogwoods are hardy ornamentals, deciduous whorled trees. They are considered one of the most outstanding small flowering trees. Its splendid flowers and graceful branches often assuming a brilliant fall coloring. Well adapted for sandy soils, they grow well in shady places almost as well as in sun. Hardy as far north as Massachusetts.

WHGC currently has 73 Active members, 2 Associate members, 9 Sustaining Affiliate members, 6 Life members, and 1 Honorary member. These figures presented on the website are  only updated at the beginning of each new year. (2008-2009 entered)

Meetings are held the first Tuesday of the month, September through June, unless otherwise noted. Meetings generally begin at 7:30 PM, unless otherwise noted. Our meetings usually start with a short socializing time with refreshments, followed by a short business meeting. Then our featured guest speaker does a slide show or flower demonstration. On occasion we have some other type of educational program. One meeting per year is the annual auction of plants. Our centerpieces and/or arrangement made by the speaker is raffled. The business meeting is sometimes waived.  Non-members and guests are always welcome if accompanied by a member. There is normally a small fee for guests but is currently being waived.

Horticulture questions are redirected to our horticulture committee members, you may be answered by more than one person, depending on who responds. Please do not send you questions to members directly. Use our email system so this will run smoothly.
