PLANT SALE Saturday, June 14, at the Congregational Church Hall, 9 AM. Preparations are underway for this year’s major fundraiser. A colorful logo has been created for the sale’s print publicity and will be used on a club T-shirt. The shirts, to be worn at the plant sale to identify club members, can be ordered at the May meeting. Full payment will be required at that time. BRING YOUR CHECKBOOK!

This year we have a bonanza of hundreds of desirable plants from a beautiful Scituate garden that must be liquidated due to the home’s sale. All these plants are being donated to our club! As a result, we are reducing the number of plants we are asking members to contribute from their own gardens from 10 to 6 -- but more is always welcome! If you need pots, they are available from Suzanne Mahler or from Doug Litchfield at Hillbilly Acres in Scituate.

If you don’t have plants to share, there are many ways you can participate in this event. You can contribute your labor by helping to dig and pot in members’ gardens. On the actual prep day, Friday, June 13, members are asked to help process the plants, set up the hall or pick up plants to be delivered to the hall. There will be plant sale sign up sheets at the May meeting. ALL MEMBERS ARE EXPECTED TO PARTICIPATE IS THIS MAJOR CLUB EVENT!

A WORD ABOUT INVASIVES A listing of prohibited invasive plants in Massachusetts is available at this web site: http://www.invasivespeciesinfo.gov/unitedstates/ma.shtml When you are potting up plants from your garden for our sale, please avoid the plants on the invasive list. The chairman states: ‘If any of these plants show up at the plant sale, they will not be accepted.’ In addition, if you have plants in your garden that you con-sider a nuisance, please do not bring them to the sale! Don’t pass them on if you think they are not desirable.
