NEXT MEETING
Holiday Decoration Workshop, Held at CEDAR SCHOOL, December 2, 2008, SPECIAL TIME: 7:00 p.m.
Our decoration workshop traditionally launches the holiday preparations in Hanover. Join us at Cedar School to create a fresh boxwood tree, a living wreath, swags or topiaries. All attending are asked to bring a selection of greens cut from your own plants or gathered (legally) in the wild. Boughs of fir, spruce, chamaecyparis, pine, holly, juniper, berries etc. are available in the ‘community’ pile if we all contribute. Avoid hemlock as it sheds when used inside.
Reminder: Do not forget your clippers. shears, floral wire, lights, ribbon and other decorations you wish to use. A box or bin to carry your creation is also suggested.
Note the special time: 7:00p.m.
BOARD MEETING There is no board meeting in December

MYSTERY OF THE MISSING BIN
Hospitality is missing a plastic ‘Supply Bin’ and the Phoenix Lodge key. We think the key is in the bin and both were probably last used at the Tea Party in June, or possibly at the May meeting. If you were involved with hospitality at either of those meetings, please look in your closets, cellars, garages, or whatever likely spot to see if you can find the missing bin. Or let us know if and when you saw it last. We would really like to find the key as we have already replaced it twice!
Please contact Ginny Gilmartin at: 781 878 5220 if you have any clues!"

A GARDENER’S THANKSGIVING PRAYER by Max Coots
Let Us Give Thanks...
For generous friends...with hearts as big as hubbards
and smiles as bright as their blossoms;
For feisty friends as tart as apples;
For continuous friends, who, like scallions and cucumbers, keep reminding us we had them;
For crotchety friends, as sour as rhubarb and as indestructible;
For handsome friends, who are as gorgeous as eggplants and as elegant as a row of corn -- and the others -- as plain as potatoes, and so good for you.
For funny friends, who are as silly as brussels sprouts and as amusing as Jerusalem
artichokes, and serious friends as complex as cauliflowers and as intricate as onions;
For friends as unpretentious as cabbages, as subtle as summer squash, as persistent as parsley, as delightful as dill, as endless as zucchini, and who -- like parsnips -- can be counted on to see you through the long winter;
For old friends, nodding like sunflowers in the evening-time, and young friends coming on as fast as radishes;
For loving friends, who wind around as like tendrils, and hold us despite our blights, wilts, and witherings;
And finally, for those friends now gone, like gardens past, that have been harvested - but who fed us in their times that we might have life thereafter;
For all these we give thanks.
(Thanks also to Linda Kalkuski for sending!)
