March Meeting - March 5th, 2002 at 7:30 p.m. @ the Phoenix Lodge. “Art and Conservation” presented by Randy Julius. Randy has been a speaker for WHGC in 1996 and 1997. Randy is an accomplished artist, naturalist and musician. This is a great meeting to bring a guest or spouse. They will be sure to enjoy it!

March Board Meeting - Tuesday, March 19th, 2002 at 7:30 p.m. at the Phoenix Lodge.

April Meeting - Tuesday, April 2nd @ 7:30 p.m. at the Phoenix Masonic Temple.

“Succession of Bloom” presented by Ginny Ballou. This program will help all gardeners in the quest for continuous bloom throughout the Summer. We will learn how to combine bulbs, perennials and annuals.

April BOARD Meeting - Tuesday, April 23rd @ 7:30 p.m., Phoenix Lodge.

Nominating Committee Meeting - will meet in March. If you are interested in serving on this committee or any committee for the 2002-2003 club year, please contact Linda Oman.

New England Spring Flower Show - March 16 - 24, 2002 at the Bayside Expo Center - Boston. We can purchase Flower Show tickets locally at Shaw‘s and Stop & Shop supermarkets. Be sure to plan your visit to the Flower Show during our club’s entry dates of March 19th - 21st.

South Shore District Meeting - On Wednesday, March 27th at 9:00 a.m. at the Barker Tavern in Scituate. The speaker this year is our very own, Barbara Barker of Hanover - “Come Back in Thyme”. Meet Mrs. Stetson and learn of the daily life a real woman in the Colonial period. Entrée choices are, Breast of Chicken with Sweet Peppers or Poached Filet of Salmon en’ Papillote. Cost is $24.00 per person, please make check payable to WHGC and send to Elaine McD by March 5th.

“Seeds to remember”, we are still in need of pictures of Children’s or member’s gardens. These pictures will be submitted for the Educational Division board for the Marshfield Fair coming up in August, 2002. Please help us be well represented with our club photos and bring to March‘s meeting.

Opportunity Knocks . . . Our June Plant Sale is well underway, this event is our annual fundraiser and is sure to be a lot of fun. We need lots of volunteers to contribute to its success - A sign up sheet for volunteers will be available at the March meeting.

The Hanover Garden Club will be hosting an Experts Night the evening of April 18th at 7:30 p.m. at the Congregational Hall, please be sure to look for details in the Hanover Mariner.

Bridgewater State College is hosting an English Garden Tour July 29 to August 9, 2002. The tour guide and lecturer is Dr Barbara SommervilleDr Barbara Sommerville, an academic of international repute who is passionate about gardens. Professionally, she is a biologist affiliated with Cambridge University as a research fellow in the Department of Clinical Veterinary Medicine. Among other pursuits at Cambridge University, however, she lectures on garden history, college gardens, and gardens in art and literature. Her knowledge of the great gardens of England, local geology, and English history is extensive. Her greatest pleasure is sharing this knowledge with fellow garden enthusiasts.
