"THROUGH THE GARDEN GATE" Many townspeople and out of Towner's were aware of this event and showed up in droves. Literally hundreds of people toured these gardens. The actual browsing was not crowded because two days were allowed for these eight gardens. The homeowners received many accolades. One homeowner had such a varied assortment of plant material she personally walked people around because even an experienced gardener couldn’t identify some unusual plants. Another homeowner, who had a riot of color to delight the eye, was asked about the edging procedure so often that he actually got out his edger and made recommendations. Another was questioned on the mechanics of her statuaries which were a big hit. Still, one of our longtime hybridizers once again provided an unbelievable show and personal contact for questions and comments. All in all, this couldn’t have been organized any better. This event takes time and backbreaking work. Unbelievably, this was all done by the homeowners themselves with support from the garden club. These people deserve the utmost praise. The overall esthetic result or impression was lovely, beyond words.
