In the early years flower shows were on a somewhat simple scale. Not that the material was simple, not at all. It was a trial period when judges were used but not all judges were certified and the show did not qualify as a "Standard Flower Show". I wasn't long before the more formal shows were tackled and with great success. This was when it was realized that our club had many more talented members that previously thought. The Standard Flower Shows are indicated as such. The Non- Standard Flower Shows are included because they are also an important part of the growth of this club. Club founder, Helena Quilty was the driving force in formalizing the club's activities. Quilty has gone on to notable success with this club and also with clubs she has joined in her move away of Massachusetts, winning many blue ribbons through the years. Quilty still keeps in touch with WHGC from her island bases in Maine and Florida. She still finds time to praise out members.
