February Meeting - February 4th, 2003 at 7:30 p.m. @ the Phoenix Lodge. A Garden For Butterflies, Hummingbirds and Other Creatures, presented by Suzanne Mahler. Butterflies and hummingbirds are two of nature’s most wondrous creatures. Through color slides and amusing anecdotes, Suzanne will share her passion for gardening and wildlife to illustrate which plants you can grow that attract these delightful visitors to your garden. Explore the magic of a butterfly’s metamorphosis and learn which flower colors and forms these mystical insects and fascinating tiny birds prefer. An array of other garden visitors including frogs, bugs, and furry critters will be featured.

February Board Meeting - February 18th, 2003 7:30 p.m. @ the Phoenix Lodge.

March Meeting - March 4th, 2003 at 7:30 p.m. @ the Phoenix Lodge. “Hosta’s and Companion Plants” - Chuck Dougherty is the owner of Cochato Nursery in Holbrook that has over 200 varieties of hostas and unusual shade plants. The nursery has a beautiful display garden. He also oversees the landscaping at Northeastern University and lectures nationally and internationally.

March Board Meeting - Tuesday, March 18th, 2003 at 7:30 p.m. at the Phoenix Lodge.New England Spring Flower Show - “The Garden Journey”, March 15-23, 2003 at the Bayside Expo Center - Boston. On Tuesday, March 18th, WHGC will have a club entry for the design division of the show.South Shore District Meeting - On Wednesday, March 26th at 9:00 a.m. at the Pembroke Country Club. The speaker Arabella Dane. Cost is $23.00 per person. Entrée choices are, Baked Stuffed Boneless Breast of Chicken or Baked Schrod. If you would like to attend, there will be copies of the registration form available at the February meeting, or you may find one in the Mayflower - please forward promptly if interested or contact Deb Zawalich.

Junior Gardeners - There will be a meeting on Tuesday, May 6th, 2003 @ 2:30 p.m. - we will make a secret garden. The workshop will be held at 24 Beechnut Circle - Hanover. Please contact Marie Sisk 1-7xxx  if your Junior Gardeners will be attending.

SAVE the date - June 20th & 21st for “BOOKS in BLOOM” at the new John Curtis Library. We will need plenty of hostesses, designers, and refreshments - more details to come and workshops for design work. Start your creative ideas flowing!

Be sure to take a trip in to Boston to the Museum of Fine Arts, “Art in Bloom” is scheduled for April 27th-29th - this is an awesome event to take in!

Attendance - REMINDER to all . . . Five club meetings remain this year, be sure to fulfill your membership responsibilities by attending 5 out of 10 per year in order to continue your membership in good standing. As always, it’s great to see our meetings well attended!
