February Meeting - February 5th, 2002 - 7:30 p.m. - at the Phoenix Lodge “The World of Hollies” presented by Bill Cannon, horticulturist and owner of Holly Farms of Cape Cod. Bill, a garden writer with the Patriot Ledger, will present with slides and lecture the world of 100-250 species and cultivars of hollies. He owns the largest collection of hollies in New England. February Board Meeting - Tuesday, February 26th, 2002 at 7:30 p.m. at the Phoenix Lodge. March Meeting - March 5th, 2002 at 7:30 p.m. @ the Phoenix Lodge. “Art and Conservation” presented by Randy Julius. Randy has been a speaker for WHGC in 1996 and 1997. Randy is an accomplished artist, naturalist and musician. This is a great meeting to bring a guest or spouse. They will be sure to enjoy it! March Board Meeting - Tuesday, March 19th, 2002 at 7:30 p.m. at the Phoenix Lodge. New England Spring Flower Show - March 16 - 24, 2002 at the Bayside Expo Center - Boston. We can purchase advance sale tickets through the Federation with a portion of these proceeds benefiting the Federation Scholarship Fund. Sign up to purchase advance tickets at the February meeting or call Elaine McD. to reserve. Payment is due at time of sign up, please make your check payable to the WHGC. We will have a raffle for a pair of show tickets at the February meeting! South Shore District Meeting - On Wednesday, March 27th at 9:00 a.m. at the Barker Tavern in Scituate. The speaker this year is our very own, Barbara Barker of Hanover - “It’s Come Back in Thyme”. Meet Mrs. Stetson and learn of the daily life a real woman in the Colonial period. Cost is $24.00 per person. Entrée choices are, Breast of Chicken with Sweet Peppers or Poached Filet of Salmon en’ Petillotte. If you would like to attend, there will be copies of the registration form available at the February meeting or you may find one in the March/April Mayflower - please forward promptly if interested. Attendance - REMINDER to all . . . Five club meetings remain this year, be sure to fulfill your membership responsibilities by attending 5 out of 10 per year in order to continue your membership in good standing. As always, it’s great to see our meetings well attended! Nominating Committee - The Nominating will be meeting soon. Enclosed with this newsletter, is a label for your convenience when you want to visit the website for the “latest dirt” on the Walnut Hill Garden Club! Be sure to put us in your “favorites” folder. In closing, WE NEED your pictures of your Children’s gardens and/or member’s gardens. These pictures will be submitted for the Educational Division board for the Marshfield Fair coming up in August, 2002. Please help us be well represented with our photos.
