Bordering Third Herring Brook near Four Corners, this property has come far from its origins as a hunter's camp. Less than 10 years ago, the homeowner personally designed and built a new home using a small portion of the original building. Developing the gardens out of old pastures and overgrown scrub has been an ongoing project. Using stone from the property, this landscaper by trade has constructed extensive stone walls on the property, enclosing his special collections of perennials, annuals and specimen trees. A rare ancient elm and mature Japanese redleaf maple shade a portion of the landscape. The most recent addition is a very large fish pond, filled with aquatic plants and Japanese koi, furnished with a complementary waterfall. These gardens are a prime example of what one person can accomplish in their home landscape.  J.J.
