South
Shore District Annual Meeting, March 28, 2001
Barker Tavern, Scituate, MA
Walnut
Hill Garden Club would like to honor Deborah who has been a real leader
in our Club 's
growth and spirit. Her enthusiasm, knowledge and warmth has nurtured
this Club and brought us many, many proud moments. Deb has served the
Club in many capacities, both on the board and in the Club at large.
Only a year after joining she served as Program Chair. In succeeding
years, she served as second vice-president, president, director and
currently serves as recording secretary.
One of her
proudest achievements was landscaping the Hanover Bandstand at Sylvester
Field in the town center. After successful fundraising, the Club tilled
the area, installed shrubs, perennials annuals. The effect was so
positive, that it graced the cover of the annual Town Report! The Club
continues to maintain the area. She presided over the Club's
"Hanover Blooms!” an event open to the public, modeled on the
MFA's "Art in Bloom" featuring local artists. She has been the
editor of the Club's outstanding yearbook for the decade, using
her desktop publishing skills and creativity to create a beautiful and
useful book. She was part of the team, which developed the Club's
website, which continues to be a wonderful resource for our membership.
For many years she has chaired the Arbor Day committee which
coordinates the purchase and presentation of tree seedlings to every
Hanover fourth grader.
Deb's talents, dedication, good humor and hard work on behalf of the
Club have made her a stellar asset and we are deeply appreciative.
